The effective and structural approaches to identification of the essence of innovative potential have been highlighted. Structural components of innovative potential of a machine building enterprise have been defined. Their different significance on realization of strategic goals of an enterprise in context of different innovative strategies has been shown. The outcomes of expert evaluation of significance of innovative potential components have been shown. The conclusion about insufficient attention of domestic management to increasing its intellectual component has been made. The accent on the priority of improvement of motivational component of innovative potential of an enterprise in terms of innovative tasks has been made.
