Здійснено аналіз сутності понять «педагогічна технологія», «когнітивізм», «когнітивні технології навчання» в українській і зарубіжній науковій літературі. З’ясовано і теоретично доведено, що зарубіжні та вітчизняні науковці по-різному тлумачать ці терміни. Крім того, розглянуто теорію психічного розвитку, психологічні аспекти отримання, структурування й оперування знаннями. Охарактеризовано теоретичні ідеї, пов’язані з методами когнітивного навчання англійської мови, а також підходи до іншомовної освіти, принципи, на основі яких розвивається когнітивний напрям університетської лінгводидактики.The article deals with the conceptual founda - tions and tendencies of cognitive theory in teaching English. In the article the essence of the concepts of “pedagogical technology”, “cognitivism”, “cognitive technologies of learn - ing” in Ukrainian and foreign scientific literature has been analyzed. It has been clarified and theoretically proved that foreign and domes - tic scholars interpret these terms in different ways, therefore they are sufficiently multifac - eted and ambiguous in their interpretation. In addition, the theory of psychological devel - opment, psychological aspects of obtaining, structuring and knowledge manipulation are considered.
