В оповіданнях Форсайта ЕОО реалізується за допомогою дистантної когезії та антитези між двома сильними позиціями -заголовком і кінцівкою. Основна ідея творів Форсайта - справедливість, помста злочинцям і негідникам. В оповіданнях flash fiction сучасних американських письменників ЕОО актуалізується в кінці текстів за допомогою стилістичної конвергенції, що включає антитезу і градацією.The article considers the language means of realizing the effect of defeated expectancy in the detective and adventure stories of the British writer Frederick Forsyth and in the short stories of the flash fiction genre. In the stories by Forsyth the effect is mainiy achieved by means of distant cohesion and antithesis between two strong positions - the title and the ending. The main idea of Forsyth's stories is justice, the revenge to criminals and scoundrels.
