The current state of competitive potential development of machine building industry of the Khmelnytsky region has been investigated. On the basis of these research were identified the main problems of the competitive potential development of machine building industry and were outlined the prospects for their further development. The place of machine building industry of the Khmelnytsky region in the industry of Ukraine as a whole was defined. Thus, it can be argued that the machine building industry of the Khmelnytsky region today is in a bad condition and needs a radical overhaul to further development.
