In the field of stable phraseological units such basic types of variant relations as internal variation are manifested. It can have both a formal character (morphonematic variation, the phenomenon of reduction, truncation of phraseological units), and semantic nature (replacing one of the elements of phraseological unit with another, similar in value, but different in sociolinguistic characteristics). Such substitutions are determined by the desire to revive the imagery of phraseological units. In other cases, an increase in imagery is due to the introduction of a more specific word meaning, sometimes a narrowly specialized element of context. There is also a semantic variation in the sphere of phraseology, that is, ambiguity, it is possible to develop secondary, transitive meanings in compound terminological names., Synonymy, and occasional transformation are widely represented among phraseological units. An increase in expressiveness is facilitated by the replacement of one component with a word of a different stylistic marking, the introduction of additional components, often definitions, word-formation modifications into phraseological units. Most phraseological units are figurative in nature as a result of the transfer of the meaning of a free phrase or sentence. Artistic forms such as hyperbole are often used.В статье рассматривается варьирование фразеологических единиц. В сфере устойчивых фразеологических оборотов проявляются такие основные виды вариантных отношений, как внутренне варьирование. Оно может иметь как формальный характер (морфонематическое варьирование, явление редукции, усечение фразеологизма), так и семантический характер (замена одного из элементов фразеологизма другим, близким по значению, но отличающимся по социолингвистической характеристике). Подобные замены определяются стремлением оживить образность фразеологизма.
