Potential opportunities of the enterprises of light industry allow to make a wide range of products, capable to satisfy all demand of domestic market. Products of light industry are consumer goods and great demands are placed on their quality. There is a set of the materials applied to production of footwear and clothes. Today chemical industry actively develops. In the future it will lead to emergence of new materials for light industry. Use of perspective modern materials with various physicomechanical properties and technologies of their production will promote production of high-quality products. They will meet all requirements of customers and conditions of their safe use. The carried-out review of the materials used for production of footwear and clothes has shown that to them consumer and production (technological) requirements are shown. Consumer requirements generally are defined by purpose of products and their use. Physicomechanical indicators influence both technological properties, and operational. Of them there are also requirements to materials for production of footwear and clothes.
