Contribution of Universities to Overcoming Student Anxiety During the War
    (НВЦ "Sci-conf.com.ua", 2022-12-03) Sobol, Nataliia
Manifestations of anxiety, which considerably increase in wartime, cause significant problems in communication and education of students. Therefore, the social support of students is an extremely important task of higher education institutions during the war. Creating an atmosphere of emotional comfort, support, and attention to each participant in the educational process should become an integral part of the activities of management, teachers, and students themselves. An indicator of the successful performance of this task is the awareness of each participant in the educational process that they are part of a community of people who respect, value and care for them.

Ethnocultural assertiveness and interetnic tolerance in the context of higher education institutions
(Посвіт, 2019-10) Соболь, Наталія Миколаївна; Марчук, Лариса Миколаївна; Sobol, Nataliia; Marchuk, Larysa
The purpose of the article is to study the psychological features of ethnocultural assertiveness and interethnic tolerance in the context of higher education in Ukraine in the age of globalization, large-scale changes in various spheres of society, increasing migration processes in Ukraine. Research methodology involves the use of general scientific research methods: the analysis of scientific sources, comparison, synthesis, generalization, as well as observation. The scientific novelty of the article consists in the attempt to identify the psychological factors that provide constructive strategies for behavior in interethnic interaction in a modern higher education institution. Conclusions. The article reviews scientific sources in order to analyze the interpretation of the concepts under study by Ukrainian and foreign researchers, as well as to compare the features of assertiveness and tolerance. In particular, ethnocultural assertiveness is presented as the ability of a person to assert his (her) rights confidently and with dignity, while not degrading the rights of others; confident protection of his (her) interests or views, taking into account the interests of representatives of other nationalities. It is stated that the concept of “interethnic tolerance” can be considered in various aspects: as a kind of tolerance, based on the acceptance of “the other” belonging to a different ethnic group, as well as a personality trait that characterizes the spectrum of personal manifestations. Interethnic tolerance acts as a complex constituent quality of personality, which is expressed in tolerance of another's way of life, other people's customs, traditions, other feelings, thoughts and ideas. It is emphasized that the formed ethnocultural assertiveness provides an opportunity to assert one’s own rights, without limiting the interests of others. Assertive behavior is much more complex than tolerant behavior: if tolerant behavior involves a display of trust and respect for another person, an expectation of mutual respect, then assertive behavior requires not only a display of respect but also the ability to defend oneself from the intolerant behavior of others. Priority directions of work on forming ethnocultural assertiveness of participants of the educational process in higher education, which will help to avoid conflicts arising on the basis of interethnic misunderstandings and improvement of interethnic relations in the conditions of higher education institutions of Ukraine are defined: cultivating in teachers and students interest and respect to their own cultures, the ability to protect it without harming the representatives of other cultures and without diminishing their national and cultural values; clear allocation of responsibilities during the learning process; purposeful nurturing of benevolent, constructive and trusting behavior; creation of conditions for cooperation of representatives of different ethnic groups, search for common interests and perspectives.

Experimental Verification of the Efficiency of Using Interactive Technology Tools in the Humanitarian, Professional and Practical Training of International Economists
Bidasiuk, Nataliia; Sobol, Nataliia; Maksymchuk, Larysa; Oleksandrenko, Kateryna; Pavlyk, Olha
The article deals with the issue of international economists’ vocational training. The results of the pilot research have revealed a number of inconsistencies in the process of studies such as the growing load of educational material and inefficient traditional methods of its study; requirements to solve professional problem situations combined with rare practice of applying innovative pedagogical technologies that could enhance interpersonal interaction; the need to develop practical readiness to build functional relationships in a foreign-language and lack of interdisciplinary approaches, professional simulation and adaptation techniques. With the aim of eliminating the aforementioned problems a graphical model of vocational training of future international economists using interactive technologies has been developed on the basis of theoretical and empirical research which determines the main directions of the experimental work. The key constituents of the suggested model such as pedagogical conditions, components, criteria, indicators, levels, have been described. The article gives a comparative analysis of the research results which proves the efficiency of using interactive technology tools in the humanitarian and professional practical training of international economists: in the control groups the average indicator of students’ readiness for foreign economic activity has changed during the course of studies from 3.03 grade points to 3.19 points (i.e. by 0.16 points), and in the experimental groups – from 2.98 points to 3.64 points (i.e. by 0.66 points), which is 0.5 points better than in control groups. The validity of the results has been verified with the methods of mathematical statistics proving the plausibility of the conducted experiment.

Overcoming the negative effects of anxiety among Ukrainian university students during the war
(Національна академія Державної прикордонної служби України імені Богдана Хмельницького, 2024-03-12) Sobol, Nataliia; Shyba, Alona
The effect on the general public's mental health is among the gravest effects of war. Prolonged stress has detrimental effects, one of which is a rise in anxiety. Students are one of the social groups that are most at risk in this regard. 96% of Ukrainian university students, who were subjects to a Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory during the war, exhibited high trait anxiety, which led us to the conclusion that it was crucial to address the detrimental impacts of high anxiety in academic contexts. The analyses of the effects of anxiety and the most efficient strategies for overcoming it allowed identifying the areas of activity for addressing the detrimental effects of high levels of student anxiety in university settings in war conditions:  creation of recommendations by psychologists, with the help of which students can independently diagnose the level of anxiety, monitor situations or triggers that provoke an increase in anxiety, understand the typical ways they react and behave when they become anxious, and choose suitable ways to combat anxiety;  patriotic education with an emphasis on each student's understanding their role in society, the formation of an active life position, and engagement in volunteering;  team work on collaborative tasks or projects will be beneficial for students who seek solace from anxious thoughts through cognitive techniques and real-world problem solving, as well as those who have a strong need for affiliation and mutual support;  engagement in physical activity proved to be protective for anxiety symptoms and disorders and physical inactivity has been found to pose a risk for the emergence of anxiety as well as for other conditions like depression. Sporting events, the active work of sports departments and clubs, quick hikes or trips to learn about local history, civil safety events organized by higher educational institutions can be very helpful;  implementation of healthy lifestyle principles, the acquisition of time management skills will help students to organize their daily routine. Free time management deserves special attention;  the development of interpersonal communication skills will help students with high anxiety in overcoming a variety of communication barriers (cultural, gender, physical, emotional, perceptual, and interpersonal).
