Стаття присвячена дослідженню проблеми мультикультурної ідентичності Джозефа
Конрада у критичних рефлексіях XX cт. Розуміння англійської національно-культурної
специфіки творчого світу письменника, який з дитинства перебував під впливом англійської
літературної традиції, а пізніше і англійської ментальності, у критичних колах відбувалося в
контексті усвідомлення поступової акультурації польського митця в англійському інте-
лектуально-художньому континуумі.
The article deals with the problem of Joseph Conrad‟s multicultural identity in critical reflections of the twentieth century, examining two national-cultural identities of the writer: Polish and English. Taking into account that Conrad was under the influence of English literary tradition and English mentality, critics appreciated the English national-cultural peculiarities of the artist‟s creative world in the context of awareness of his gradual acculturation in the English intellectual and artistic continuum.
