З 1995 року кількість міжнародних туристичних потоків зросла з 531 млн до більш ніж 1326 млн осіб. На сьогодні
міжнародні надходження від туризму становлять величезний відсоток світового експорту товарів і послуг і досягли $ 1,340
млрд у 2017 році. Така статистика робить туризм найбільш динамічною галуззю сучасної економіки. Багато країн світового
співтовариства входять до списку провідних світових туристичних напрямів подорожей та екскурсій. Автори досліджують, чи
справді туризм є ключовим чинником для економічного зростання в цих країнах.
The modern tendencies of development of international tourism as the basis of the driving force of economic growth of the countries of the world community were researched in the article. The authors of the article analysed the dynamics of international tourist arrivals in the regions of the world; found out the factors characterizing the place and role of intern ational tourism in the economic transformation of developing countries; determined the economic impact of tourism on the soc ioeconomic development of the world; investigated the laws of the positive impact of international tourism on socio-economic transformation processes. The international tourist arrivals in the regions of the world (1995–2017) were analysed in the article. International foreign exchange earnings from tourism have increased. There is a steady demand for travel in all regions of th e world, including health improvement. The tourism sector can be a decisive factor for economic growth in the world's societies , in particular when the opportunities for economic diversification are limited. Increasing of tourist flows can bring many positi ve economic consequences for host countries, especially in terms of diversification of the economy and foreign exchange earnings . Obviously, the tourism industry itself can not solve all economic problems, but it can be a key means of development. An important political consequence is that domestic governments need to invest more in this field by improving public infrastructure, communications, water and energy supply and other utilities. Reinvesting of part of the profit from tourism can be a favourable strategy to attract new tourists.
