Документ The concept ecocide: the lexical and stylistic means of its verbalization in the original and translation(Хмельницький національний університет, 2024) Yemets, O.The article considers the lexical units and stylistic devices which are used for verbalization of the concept ECOCIDE. The research is based on the articles in the British, American and Ukrainian mass media of the last two years. The conceptual models of translation of the lexical and stylistic devices are investigated. The algorithm of investigation includes the following stages. 1. determining the concept of the article; 2. defining the lexical means of its verbalization, in particular the core units; 3. formulating the conceptual metaphor. In the process of translation it is necessary to retain the conceptual idea. While investigating the concept ECOCIDE, three main groups of lexical units have been singled out which belong to the semantic fields NATURE, WAR, CRIME. These semantic fields are interconnected because the journalists describe ecocide as crimes against nature during the war. The study shows that the lexical units belonging to the semantic group CRIME (ECOLOGICAL CRIME) are emotionally colored and express negative evaluative connotations. The most widely used words of these three groups verbalizing the concept are trees, plants, animals, ecocide, disaster, death, mine, destroy, kill. The concept ECOCIDE is also verbalized with the help of anthropomorphic metaphors which ascribe the properties of human beings to the objects of nature. Such stylistic devices reflect the emotional attitude of the journalists to the death of nature, their bitterness and anger caused by the russian agression and destruction. Other aspects of the concept are described in the articles such as the tragic consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydropower plant, the use of mines, the occupation of biospheric reserves and parks. One journalist compares the occupation of the Zaporizhya atomic power plant with the menace of Armageddon, using a mythological allusion. The major conceptual model of our translation was retaining the conceptual idea of the source text and using the same or somewhat different linguistic expressions which help to render the emotional, imagemaking and even passionate style of the journalists, their sympathy to our country, our people, our nature.Документ The types of modulation as a technique of prose and poetry translation(Хмельницький національний університет, 2022) Yemets, O.; Ємець, О.В.The paper considers the types and reasons of using such technique of translation as modulation. Modulation is defined as a variation through a change of viewpoint in the target text. This technique is investigated on the basis of the Ukrainian translations of the classical prose and poetry of the 19-20th centuries. Two major types of modulation are singled out: the substitution of cause by effect and the change of the point of view. In the translation of prose texts by D. Thomas and A. Lawrence both types are used, thus revealing the creative approach and the ability to imagine the described situation. The use of modulation is determined by the described situation and the use of extended metaphors. Literal translation is not relevant in this case, as it does not reveal the emotional state of the main character. In such case the subject of the source-text sentence becomes the object in the target-text utterance. A somewhat different approach can be applied in discussing poetry translation. The analysis of translations of E. Poe's and R. Kipling's poems by such outstanding people as D. Palamarchuk and M. Strikha shows that both varieties of modulation are used to retain the rhyme and reduce the number of words in the lines. In the analyzed poems the technique of modulation is applied in rendering extended metaphors as well as antithesis to increase the emotional effect. Modulation is one of the features of Maxim Strikha’s style of poetry translation. By means of this technique, the translator foregrounds the main idea of the sentence (stanza) – the idea of strong love (E. Poe), of nobleness and decency (R. Пропонується алгоритм концептуального аналізу в перекладі прози. Виявлено, що концептуальні метафори в оповіданнях flash fiction значною мірою співпадають з відомими англійськими та українським и прислів'ями про сім'ю, батьків і кохання. Визначено, що найчастіше концептуальна метафора сім'ї вербалізується за допомогою розгорнутих метафор і градації, а також метонімічної деталі, яка стає символом твору. Концептуальна метафора любові вербалізується завдяки використанню метафори та гіперболи. Оповідання, які розкривають вказані концепти, відзначаються емоційністю, поетичністю, позитивною прагматикою. У процесі передачі концептуальних метафор у перекладі застосовано дві стратегії: переклад зі збереженням концептуальної моделі та з аналогічним мовним виразом; переклад зі збереженням концептуальної моделі, але зі зміною мовного виразу (синонімічна заміна, модуляція), що свідчить про максимально уважне ставлення до авторського задуму.Документ Роль стилістичного аналізу у перекладі поетичної прози(Хмельницький національний університет, 2021) Ємець, О.В.; Yemets, O.У статті розглядаються стилістичні засоби створення поетичності прози. Стилістична конвергенція як тип висунення характеризується як найбільш експліцитний прояв поетичності прози. Якщо у класичній короткій прозі (Вайлд, Томас) переважають метафоричні та фонетичні компоненти конвергенціїї, то у сучасних оповіданнях flash fiction стилістичні конвергенції включають образні та лексико-стилістичні засоби (антитезу, градацію). У роботі підкреслюється функції та прийоми відтворення алітерації у перекладі поетичної прози.Документ Фоностилістичні засоби у тексті як тип висунення: прагматичні і перекладацькі аспекти(Хмельницький національний університет, 2019) Ємець, О.В.; Yemets, O.Стаття присвячена ролі фоностилістичних засобів у створенні прийому висунення у художніх текстах. Фоностилістичні засоби, зокрема звукові повтори, стають проявом кількісного аспекту висунення. Звукові повтори функціонують у складі стилістичних конвергенцій, які є найбільш виразним типом висунення. Взаємодія метафор і звукових повторів у конвергенціях у сильних позиціях сприяє тому, що метафори набувають концептуального характеру ПРИРОДА – ЦЕ ЛЮДИНА. Адекватним і вдалим переклад метафоричних одиниць, що базуються на звукових повторах, може бути за допомогою двох основних прийомів: передачі звукового повтору тим самим звуком або заміни іншим видом звукового повтору (алітерація – асонанс).
