Анотація
Art techniques are related to art therapy and represent a variety of forms and methods of learning that encourage learners’ creativity and self-expression, increase their motivation to work in collective cooperation while solving some definite learning problems. This is especially relevant and appropriate for foreign language study. Art techniques enhance emotional state of learners, atmosphere in the classroom, attention concentration, and long-term memory. Mostly art techniques presuppose the use of visuals (pictures, photos, videos, presentations, excerpts from films or cartoons); creative project techniques (collaging, dramatization, reciting poems, making one’s own videos and films etc.). Art techniques develop language skills, creativity, divergent thinking, concentration, memory and imagination. The classification of art techniques by J. Mukoroli is considered to be the most widely spread and is characterized in the paper. According to M. Farokhi, art techniques must correspond to basic principles of foreign language learning: communicative approach; situational approach and topicality; functionality; and individualization of learning process that provides active participation in the lesson with consideration of learners’ life experience, motivation to language learning, sphere of interests, context study, activities and emotions.
