dc.descriptionA tovaronym is chiefly an artificial onym related to the material sphere human life. Such proprial unuits (denotations, onyms, and proper names) are now very important in name-forming process, since their development is the most dynamic. In Ukraine, proper names of material objects (tovaronyms) have been the object of scientific research starting from XXI Century, which proves topicality of this paper. The aim of research is to characterize peculiarities of morphological word-formation of proper names of industrial goods. The object of research is 7528 tovaronyms that have been registered since late XIX – early XXI Century. By chronological attributes, four period are distinguished: first period (1991–2018); second period (1946–1991); third period (1917–1945); fourth period (late XIX Century - 1917). We have defined the study of proper names of industrial goods with the following groups: audіo-videonyms (nominations of devices designed to transmit sound and image), service-machinonyms (proper names of domestic appliances that are primarily used to make household chores easier), and transportonyms (names of means of transport). Frequency of proper names of industrial goods is the highest in the first period and, naturally, decreases towards the fourth period. In terms of groups of goods, productivity of audio-videonyms should be noted in the first three periods; the fourth period is dominated by transportonyms.uk_UA
