Анотація
У статті розглядається ефект ошуканого очікування як ментальний феномен. Автор трактує це явище як конфлікт ментальних просторів, у якому певні дії чи набір операцій, що відбуваються у реальному просторі, не відповідають певним діям чи набору операцій, що відбуваються у гіпотетичному просторі. Застосовуючи теорію ментальних просторів, автор розкрив механізм дії ефекту ошуканого очікування в оповіданні О.Генрі «A Service of Love» («Жертви любові»).
В статье рассматривается эффект обманутого ожидания как ментальный феномен. Автор трактует это явление как конфликт ментальных пространств, в котором определенные действия или набор операций, происходящие в реальном пространстве, не соответствуют определенным действиям или набору операций, происходящим в гипотетическом пространстве. Применяя теорию ментальных пространств, автор раскрыл механизм действия эффекта обманутого ожидания в рассказе О.Генри «A Service of Love» («Жертвы любви»).
The article deals with the effect of defeated expectancy as a mental phenomenon, i.e. through the theory of mental spaces, developed by G. Fauconnier. Mental spaces represent model situations (real and hypothetical) in that form they are conceptualized by a human being. They are also the models of discourse understanding; they are interrelated within it and can be modified to the extent of its deployment as fragments of text worlds. Defeated expectancy is interpreted as a conflict of mental spaces in which a certain action or set of operations that take place in real space are not relevant to the certain action or set of operations that take place in a hypothetical space. This conflict leads to tension of the plot and, as a result, to vivid manifestation of reader’s emotions; and the more unexpected situation, the stronger emotional effect, produced on the reader. Applying mental space theory, the author revealed the mechanism of defeated expectancy, using as an example O. Henry’s short story «A Service of Love»
В статье рассматривается эффект обманутого ожидания как ментальный феномен. Автор трактует это явление как конфликт ментальных пространств, в котором определенные действия или набор операций, происходящие в реальном пространстве, не соответствуют определенным действиям или набору операций, происходящим в гипотетическом пространстве. Применяя теорию ментальных пространств, автор раскрыл механизм действия эффекта обманутого ожидания в рассказе О.Генри «A Service of Love» («Жертвы любви»).
