Анотація
На основі дослідження питання застосування мотиваційних стратегій на заняттях з іноземної мови автором статті визначено передумови формування мотивації вивчення іноземної мови студентами вищих навчальних закладів. Такими передумовами є створення позитивного образу викладача; фокусування програми на речах, які потрібні студентам для майбутньої професійної діяльності, які відповідають їхнім віковим та індивідуальним інтересам; правильне оформлення класної кімнати. Забезпечення цих передумов сприяє ефективному застосуванню мотиваційних стратегій вивчення іноземної мови у внз.
The problem of motivation and motives is one of the key problems of Psychology. The author considers preconditions that are necessary for performing motivation strategies. The first such precondition is creation of the teacher’s positive image. The second one is curriculum focusing on the things necessary for the students in their future professional activities and those which correspond to their age and individual interests. Moreover, the level of materials for learning should meet the level of the students’ communicative competence and encourage its development. The third precondition is correct equipment of the classroom as the place for learning as the environment where the students should reach high standards of academic results, success in interaction with the teacher and group mates and overcome the consequences of possible previous negative experience connected with foreign languages learning. The author considers image as the subjective picture of the world or its elements. One of the most important peculiarities of image is its integrity. Image is always a signal that determines reaction of approach to or removal from stimulus. People not only perceive, they feel cognitive, emotional, aesthetic necessity in perception. Image of the foreign language teacher has rather complicated structure. The elements of this image is appearance, temper, character features, correlation between inner and outer self, classroom management style, professional competence, emotional maturity, verbal and nonverbal behavior. Teacher’s personal characters and behavior can become strong tool for students’ motivation to learn foreign languages. The appropriate equipment of the classroom is also the precondition of forming students’ motivation to learn foreign languages. Equipment and furnishing of the classroom is important factor of forming personal student’s culture, is information support of learning process, encourages development of foreign language competences, provides new knowledge about world in general and history, traditions, sights, cultural peculiarities of the country in particular. Of course classroom should meet hygiene requirements as to the room cleanness, lighting, size and correspond to the security rules. The room should be comfortable and compatible with the teacher’s methods and class management. The room shouldn’t be over furnished and each student must have his/her work place. One of the main requirements of the classroom is correspondence of its stands, posters, tables, technical facilities, textbooks, other materials to the curriculum. The stands and posters should be written in the font that can be read by the students from their work places. Some stands should stay in the class permanently, for example the table of irregular words, but most of them should be renewed because everything new encourages interest, curiosity, draws attention. On the other hand, this renewal shouldn’t be very often because the material perceived by the sight sensor during rather long period is remembered better. The author recommends to renew the stands and posters approximately once a month. The author also considers the requirements to the classroom furniture, color of walls, technical facilities, didactic materials. The author comes to the conclusion that fulfillment the preconditions described in the article gives the teacher opportunity to use successfully motivation strategies in the classroom.
