Наукова проблема перекладу англійської юридичної термінології пов’язана, перш за все, із вивченням специфіки
юридичної мови, дослідженням загальних тенденцій виникнення та використання термінів у юридичних текстах та
виявленням основних напрямів та способів перекладу юридичних термінів. Важливим критерієм якісного перекладу
юридичних текстів є спеціальна підготовка перекладача, його компетентність та ерудиція. Метою дослідження є аналіз
існуючої практики і проблем юридичного перекладу, визначення особливостей та способів перекладу юридичної
термінології
The scientific problems of English legal terminology translation are study of the legal language peculiarities, the general tendencies of occurrence and signification of legal texts terms, identifying the main directions and ways of legal terms translation. An important criteria for the quality translation of legal texts is the translator’s special training, his competence and erudition. The purpose of the study is to analyze the current practice and problems of legal translation, to determine the features and methods of legal terminology translation. Legal language includes the language of laws, the language of court decisions, the language of legal science and expertise, the language of departmental written communication, administrative jargon. The legal texts translation has its difficulties. It should accurately convey the author's opinion and preserve the style features. Thus, the translator must be proficient and fluent in Ukrainian literary language and specific terminology. Legal translation has several stages; one of the most difficult is to find a matching terminology unit. The translation problems of legal terms arise from the inconsistency of the source language and the target language terminological systems, the lack of systematic correspondences. Among the main ways of translating non-equivalent legal terms are substitution and transformation, they are the most common. Such methods are divided into: transcoded borrowing (transliteration, transcription); literal translation; descriptive or explanatory translation, approximate translation or as it is called, analog. Of course, the translator should avoid borrowings and use correspondences. Thus, the main ways for translation legal terms are: using the full Ukrainian-language equivalent, borrowing and adding, descriptive translation, transcription, transliteration and word for word translation.
