dc.descriptionA pragmatonym is a proper name of an object that is directly related to human activity. This is a language unit, in which the natural and artificial are interrelated. These units have common requirement – they must be appealing, draw attention, and be memorable. R.M. Maier was the first to tackle names of products. In 1902 he developed a classification of trademarks and noted that this was a special class of lexical units that needed linguistic researched. History of pragmatonyms, namely products proper names, analysis is elated with the name of the following researchers: A. A. Vasylevskyi, A. A. Isakova, Z. P. Komolova, I. V. Kryukova, N. H. Mordvynova, V. A. Moskovych, M. Ye. Novychykhina, T. A. Sobolyeva, O. V. Superanska, Ye. V. Tryfonova, N. L. Shvedova, who tackled general theoretical issues of terminology of certain denotations and formation of pragmatonymy structure that fit modern language onym scope. In Ukraine, proper names of material objects became an object of research only in XXI Century. S. О. Shestakovа first studied the pragmatonymy in Ukraine. This is a dissertation on the topic "Lexico-semantic innovations in the Ukrainian nomination system (based on ergonomics and pragmonyms)". At the same time, they were researched along with other classes of propriatives. This, namely, is specific to works by D. H. Buchko, Yu. A. Hrushevska, O. Yu. Karpenko, M. A. Kurushyna, M. M. Torchynskyi and others. The works of foreign scientists have an influence on the development of principles and methods of studying pragmatonymy. Russia, USA, the Czech Republic, Germany and other countries are the centers of research pragmatonyms. Russia has many works devoted to the study of pragmatoninism. But they are related to other sciences. For example, jurisprudence, marketing, economics. Pragmatonyms, as a whole, and tovaronyms, namely, became an object of research half a Century ago; at the same time, Ukrainian linguists occasionally paid attention to this issue. Given active nature of nomination process related to trademarks and possibility to reveal tendencies in name formation in modern period, the need to characterize various types of products proper names is obvious.uk_UA
