Автор аналізує експлікацію значення композитного номінанта залежно від розташування ад‘єктивних та кореневих основ. Проведено аналіз семантики ендо- та екзоцентричних композитів. Розглянуто особливості семантичних відношень в середині метафоричних та метонімічних композитних домінантів.uk_UA
dc.description.abstractThe object of the research is semantic relations between components of compound words within American sports discourse. The subject of the research is compound words that are used in American sports texts and have specific semantic features. The aim of the article is to define semantic relations between components of compound lexical units of American sports discourse. The article deals with aspects of semantic relations between components of binominal compound words in modern American sports discourse. The author has analyzed explication of meaning of a compound word depending on placement of adjective and root stems. It has been revealed the most common semantic relation between components of compound words is as follows: left component modifies the right one. The right component is a nucleus of the semantics. Analysis of semantics of endo- and exocentric compound words has been done. Peculiarities of semantic relations within metaphoric and metonymic compound words have been revealed. In many cases, in which neither component plays the function of a nucleus and no modification takes place, have been revealed. Lexical units of this type can be analyzed as the ones that have idiomatic nature. Such compounds may be viewed as ‗semantic condensations‘ of phraseological units while their adequate perception by communicants depends on their linguistic competence, background knowledge, and thesaurus. Analysis by 2 immediate constituents has been applied for the research. Along with endocentric and exocentric compound words, synthetic and asynthetic compounds words can be distinguished. Placement of the ‗agent‘ determines the semantics of the word.uk_UA
