dc.description.abstractВ статье рассматривается эффект обманутого ожидания как один из типов выдвижения, который в большинстве случаев трактуется как отклонение от общеязыковой или собственной нормы языка и вероятностных характеристик элементов текста. В структуре художественного текста обманутое ожидание квалифицируется как один из типов непредсказуемости и как содержательная категория, обладающая функцией комического. Приводятся примеры использования эффекта обманутого ожидания в новеллах О. Генри.uk_UA
dc.description.abstractThis article deals with the effect of the defeated expectancy as one of the types of actualization, which is treated in the most cases as a deviation from common language or its norm and probabilistic characteristics of text’s elements. As a stylistic device, the effect of defeated expectancy is manifested in violation of the linearity of language, i.e., when the elements of low predictability appear in the text, creating opposite expectations and requiring reader’s attention. This effect can be found at all levels of the language, playing different functions and enhancing the aesthetic and emotional impact on the reader. In the structure of the literary text the effect of defeated expectancy can occupy strong positions and is qualified as one of the types of unpredictability and as meaningful category that has comic function. The effectiveness of defeated expectancy depends not only on the skill of the author, but also on the nature of the stylistic device. The author gives the examples of the effect of defeated expectancy in O. Henry’s short stories.uk_UA
