Анотація
У статті розглянуто структурні моделі композитних номінантів американського спортивного
дискурсу. Автор описує трансформації на синтаксичному рівні, на основі яких виділяються структурні типи
складних лексичних одиниць. Виділено основні лексико-семантичні групи терміносистеми спорту. Подано
кількісні характеристики структурних моделей та лексичних груп досліджуваного матеріалу. Розкрито явище
полісемії, синонімії та антонімії в американському спортивному дискурсі.
The article deals with structural models and lexico-semantic groups of compound words in modern American sports discourse. The layer of sports lexicon is reach in various expressive means that are rendered through transformations on syntactic level, which result in formation of compound lexical units. Basic lexico-semantic groups of sports terminology have been pointed out. The author has established quantitative data of the analyzed lexical units. The phenomenon of the formation of polysemic, synonymic, and antonymic compounds in sports discourse has been revealed. There may be pointed out three primary structural groups of compounds words. Words that belong to the first group have the following semantic aspect: a certain notion expressed by the first component limits the object expressed by the second component and changes the general meaning of the whole compound word. Words that belong to the second group have the following semantic structure: there is no subordinate component in the structure of the compound word. Its meaning corresponds to the meaning of a phrasal verb. The semantic structure of words from the third group may be presented as: object expressed by the second component is defined by a feature of the first component. The compound word is formed on the basis of an adjective and may denote both object, as well as doer of the action.
