Анотація
У статті проаналізовано основні дериваційні процеси основоскладання в американському спортивному дискурсі. Названо основні моделі осново складання та суфікси, що модифікують значення спортивних композитних номінантів. Вивчено відношення між компонентами деривованих складних слів. Встановлено, що атрибуція направлена на формальний предикат, а дієслівна номіналізація перетворюється в ад’єктивну складну одиницю. Доведено, що відношення між компонентами деривованих складних слів мають об’єктно-кваліфікативний характер, а атрибуція направлена на семантичне ядро композита.
The object of the research is derivational processes that take place in compounding within American sports discourse. The subject of the research is compound words that are used in American sports texts and have certain affixes that modify semantic status of these compound words. The aim of the article is to analyze basic elements (affixes) that are peculiar to derivational processes in compounding within American sports discourse and to analyze relations between components of the derived words in sports terminology. Attention is drawn to the structure, semantics and attribution between components of derived compound words. A total number of 1086 compound words used in American sports texts have been analyzed. It has been determined that attribution is aimed at formal predicate, while verb nominalization transforms into adjectival compound lexical unit. It has been proven that relations between components of derived compound words are of an object and qualifying character, while attribution is aimed at the semantic core of the compound word. Non-idiomatic bahuvrihi, meaning of which is obvious and understood based on the components, usually demonstrate semantic correlation of verbal surrounding with the direct meaning of basic component of a compound word. Idiomatic derivatives render related features with the semantics of motivating non-idiomatic derivatives being its basis. It should be noted that primary features of substantivised bahuvrihi are expressiveness, disdainful, and playful imagery.
