Анотація
Аналізуються чинники популярності жанру «чікліт» у сучасній британській прозі. Розглядаються жанрові маркери, різновиди, типовий образ головної героїні романів «чікліт». Визначено такі особливості жанру, що відрізняють його від традиційного жіночого любовного роману та водночас сприяють його популярності серед читачів, як реалістичність зображення головної героїні, акцент на її особистій трансформації, репрезентація цінностей сучасної жінки, сповідальний характер творів, гумористичність зображення.
The reasons of popularity of “chicklit” genre in contemporary British prose are analysed. Genre designations, varieties and the typical main character of “chicklit” novels are discussed. The peculiarities of the genre and the features that distinguish it from traditional woman love story and contribute to its popularity among readers, such as: realism in the depiction of the main character, accent on her personal transformation, representation of values of a modern woman, confessional tone of novels, humour – are figured out.
