dc.description.abstract	The aim of my article is to represent the key points of stylistics of perception or decoding stylistics, such as code, text message, reader’s perception, types of foregrounding and others. I will analyse the effect of defeated expectancy as one of the main types of foregrounding in decoding stylistics and will show its functions and its role in the structure of the text on examples, taken from the short stories by O.
