Анотація
The article considers the role of cohesion in the creation of the stylistic device of foregrounding. The language means of cohesion are determined. The extended metaphors are a component of quantitative aspect of foregrounding.

It is proved that cohesion of foregrounding suggested by M.Short actualizes prose poeticalness.
