Документ Defeated expectancy as a mental space phenomenon(Uniwersytet Rzeszowski, 2013) Давидюк, Юлія Борисівна; Davydyuk, Yu.B.The article presents theory of defeated expectancy as one of the major types of foregrounding and psycholinguistic phenomenon in the literary text through the theory of Fauconnier’s mental spaces. As one of the types of the foregrounding, it is the important constituent factor of connectivity, because predictability/unpredictability play a significant role in establishing metatextual cohesion in the literary text. Defeated expectancy can be found on all text levels, playing different functions and enhancing the aesthetic and emotional impact on the reader. Within the framework of cognitive linguistics and cognitive psycholinguistics this effect can also be considered as violation of expectation theory which leads to the conflict between real and the expected space. According to this view, the effect of defeated expectancy can be analysed as a mental space phenomenon.Документ Defeated expectancy in the semantic structure of the literary text(2013-11) Давидюк, Юлія Борисівна; Davydyuk, Yu.B.The article deals with defeated expectancy as one of the major type of foregrounding in the semantic structure of the literary text. Defeated expectancy violates established information, proposed in advance by the author, causing text suspense inside the literary text. It can be presented by different stylistic devices and has great impact on the reader as an emotive component, helping to prolong reader’s aesthic perception and causing an effect of “emotional stress”. As a mental phenomenon, defeated expectancy creates the conflict between real and expected situations in the space of the literary text. They are interconnected and used not only in creation conceptual integration networks, but also can be used generally to model dynamic mappings in thought and language. The author focuses on elements of conceptual integration network, building integration models, which involve setting up mental spaces and various operations in the blend itself. The results obtained are shown in O. В структуре художественного текста обманутое ожидание квалифицируется как один из типов непредсказуемости и как содержательная категория, обладающая функцией комического. Приводятся примеры использования эффекта обманутого ожидания в новеллах О. Генри.
