Анотація
Заголовок наукової статті – важливий комунікативно значущий елемент у структурній організації тексту, який великою мірою відповідає за підвищення індексу цитування публікації. На основі вибірки англомовних заголовків з українських наукових журналів розглядаються типові помилки у їх оформленні та перекладі. У полі уваги автора дослідження – використання онлайн перекладачів, правила транслітерації, використання великої літери, переклад термінів, псевдоінтернаціоналізми, дефіс у складених термінах, переклад атрибутивних конструкцій, вилучення слів без повного смислового навантаження. Подано рекомендації для якісного написання заголовків англійською мовою.
The title of a scientific article is an important communicatively significant element in the structural organization of the text which is largely responsible for raising the citation index of the publication. Based on a selection of English-language titles from Ukrainian scientific journals the author generalizes common mistakes in their design and translation. The focus of attention is on the use of online translators, rules of transliteration, capitalization, translation of terms, pseudo-internationalisms, hyphenated terms, translation of attributive constructions, omission of words with little semantic load in translation. Recommendations for higher quality English headline writing are provided.
